Okay… This Reaction Surprised Us 😳

Hello Reader, It's Yukari!

Hope you had a fabulous Valentine’s Day weekend. 🧡

Aric and I took a little break from work and had a “date day” we actually love...

Pedicures together, happy hour…then he cooked me a full 3-course dinner at home.

(Full transparency: this was Aric in chef-mode 😂 Our normal weeknights are much simpler.)

How to make staying in feel like a treat (not a chore)

We avoided crowded restaurants, loud music, and a prix fixe menu, and traded it for quality time, no reservations, and hours at the table just talking.

And here’s the best part: you don’t need chef-level skills to have a date-night-worthy dinner at home.

You just need a few simple building blocks. (and the confidence to use them).

AND one more thing:

Sopita de Fideo (Mexican comfort soup) 🥣

I promised you in my last email: Sopita de Fideo.

For many Mexican families, sopita isn’t just soup; it’s the first thing you learn to cook.

It teaches you how to toast, simmer, and season by feel.

So if you’re not super comfortable in the kitchen yet, this is a great place to start building real confidence.

Here’s a reminder I hold close, especially on those “meh” cooking days. 😒

It's a Japanese proverb, "Nana Korobi Ya Oki," which means, Fall seven times, get up eight.”

Every time you cook, you’re building your instincts. 🧡

Thanks for being at our Kitchen Table, on this cozy little corner of the internet, for following along, and for letting us share not just what we cook, but why we cook. 🧡

With gratitude and friendship,

Aric & Yukari

🐱🐶 (Ka-En & Senna, who are convinced they should be the official Frozen vs. Fresh taste testers 🤣)
